I've been asked to to team and individual photos for a soccer team. I have no problems with the photos, but not sure where to go for a good memory mate product that will allow me to insert my photos. I've seen others mention making their own in photoshop. If you did this, what would you print them on. I'm wanting something that would be free-standing.

thanks

http://tyndellphotographic.com/ is where i used to buy the cardboard ones before I switched to digital ones. If you still want the cardboard ones they have good prices but it is cheaper to print a digital memory mate now

Tigershark,

In using digital, I'm assuming you just print the entire thing like an 8 1/2 by 11 inch photo? Do you print that on special paper, and then what does the customer do with it, frame it, etc?

Thanks for the replies.

P.S. I'd much rather do just the digital, it's just trying to understand the finished product.

I had switched from offering either traditional or digital to only offering digital because they greatly out sold the traditional. Before I got the job of shooting for this team, the parents got the same MM every year. I now cycle through 4 different templates so that a kid could now have a different looking photo for each year. I also put the players name across the bottom and the team name on the side.

A traditional Memory Mate is a cardboard holder for the team photo (usually 5x7) and a smaller (3x5) of the individual player.

I print it as an 8x10 but I use a lab for everything I sell rather than my low buget inkjet on consumer grade paper.

I use a Pro lab for a lot of jobs but also do a lot of my own printing for school shoots with a 8x10 shinko. My costs per print is a little under 1.00, my lab costs is .78 cents plus shipping. There are a lot of good templates out there for sale and some labs will even give you some starters. I opted to buy a nice set and have created several as well. My digital memory mates are always printed on an 8x10.

Ditto to what TIgershark said - though haven't bought any and just create them but need more choice and running out of ideas! Always 8x10 and since I started offering them nobody has even asked about the traditional ones.

I am working on getting the T&I for a large youth soccer club. The first thing out of their mouth was, "You don't sell those crappy cardboard memory mates, do you?" I've been working on some 8x10 digital memory mate templates of my own.

Sounds like the digital is the way to go. On a 8x10 size what sizes do you use for the placeholders for the single and team photos?

Thanks

Both are cropped to 5x7 before being layered in but not sure what they are exactly.

Unless they changed them those designs were horrible IMHO - like MPIX and all but the memory mates and cards were just bla.

Thanks for all the help. I like the digital much better but I guess it all comes down to what the customers wants :)
