Going to photo expo's aren't necessarily a good thing. Walking around to see what's new then the astrophotography booth got me. I don't need any serious galaxy hunting equipment so I hope this setup below is a good start.
Anyone here have any experiences with the Celestron Advance Series C8-SGT(XLT)

any opinions, suggestions, pros, cons welcomed.
Thanks!

I would recommand this one (http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=1-599-49-56-12180) instead of the one with the CG-5 equatorial mount , a bit more expensive but well worth it in my opinion .

I've got the 11" version of that scope, and love it. Though I've only had it out a few times and haven't successfully shot through it yet, it's a beaut. Not the ideal "starter" scope apparently, but I don't find mine to be overly advanced, and for viewing I've not looked through better. (Though I've hardly looked through any scopes as it is really.)
$1700 does seem a very good price for the one TC_Fenua linked to. Perhaps they've come down a lot in price because Celestron have recently released the HD Edge series, which are ten times the price.
