So i was out late in the clear skys of the Santa Cruz Mountains last night. Tried to get a pic all night. When i finally decided to leave a giant one went right through my cameras path topping off the night with my first meteor! Let me know if I can improve it at all. The first is the original, and the second I adjusted brightness and sharpness a tad. The meteor was one of the biggest of the night that i saw!

Wow, fantastic! I just love the way it's slicing right through the middle of Orion. Couldn't place that one better if you tried!! :)

I'm not sure which I like better... I do like the first one for the longer trail (and color) that looks straighter, the sharpening in the second almost makes it look a little jagged.. but definitely like the other improvements for the 2nd version.
I was p.o'd tonight.. I was at a hockey game and while going to the car after, I saw TWO really nice ones.. not only was the sky really dark, the parking lot was also.. I would have stayed there at least an hour shooting but I had no tripod! Not to mention the temperature was around 28 degrees.. I guess I'll skip this one!

nicely captured. weird thing is I saw a very similar one , even going under Orions belt , on early hours of Monday morning, (0207 UT ). The one I saw came from the area of Monoceros , it was huge in length easily 3 - 4 times the span between Salph and Rigel. the colour in it's tail was astonishing. I was imaging M42 but was between shutter clicks ( typical !! I was letting the chip cool down ) . I think mine would have been a Earth grazer than than a Leonid .

Excellent pictures. I like the first one most with the silhouette in the corner.
