My first time shooting something like this. I didn't come prepared...I was freezing my balls off and my canon gear wasn't ready. Had to shoot with my old D200 and 18-55. I shot at 18mm wide open f/3.5 at ISO 1250 30 seconds... a little out of focus, not sure how since I was focusing infinity.

I don't want to start another thread (looks like there are 3 or 4 already) and the title of this thread seems the most appropriate... so here's my first attempt at this. I'll probably darken the skies in 2 and 3 to make it more like 1. 1 and 2 are the full frame. 3 is a crop from the frame. Most were very faint, but these three were pretty bright. These are all 15mm FE on 5DII. I was on the Foothills Parkway (Miller's Cove Overlook if you know the area). Probably should have gone up further or more into the Smoky Mountains.

Great shots! Just my luck, i'm actually on vacation this week, the last two days have been crystal clear, and starting at 7 AM yesterday, clouds roll in. I even got up at midnight and 2 AM to see if it was clear. Had all my camera gear setup, ready to go.
oh well...i'll live vicariously through you all! Keep the shots coming.

jacuff, I'm not convinced your third shot is a meteor, but I do love those pictures. Looks like a cracking lens to me!
