Ok so my 580ex II just decided to crap out on me the other day. It happened while i was outside shooting in VERY LIGHT snow and i was only out there for like 10 minutes. Given that its weather sealed i doubt the snow did anything.

It turns on, all controls work, recognizes my triggers and all but it WILL NOT FIRE. Not wirelessly or on my camera, pilot light never comes on and it will randomly turn off sometimes. Anyone know whats wrong? I really need it for a shoot on tuesday, but somehow i dont think that is going to happen...

bulb got cold, then the heat of the flash fissured the glass
if im right, send it to canon

Two options:
1) The batteries are flat. This is most likely as the pilot light isn't coming on.
2) The flash tube or an internal component blew up. Canon can fix it, their flat fee to repair a flash is $120 or so.
