View Full Version : difference using 32in umbrulla compared to 42in umbrulla?

I have a couple of 32in shoot thru umbrullas & was Just wondering what difference of quality of light there is by using the bigger 42in umbrulla.I notice alot here using the larger umbrulla & wondering why?

In general, the bigger the light source, the softer the light. :)

The bigger the apparent size of the light source, the softer the light. A 32" umbrella that's placed closer than a 42" should give an equally soft quality to the light. Of course the distance to the light source affects how the light falls off, so keep that in mind as well.

Yup, the 32", because a lot of 43" umbrellas are double-fold... ;)
