I have the chance to shoot get my first high school prom!!! I am totally new to this. I can find backgrounds and such but I can not find anything on order forms or packaging to supply to the students with their prints. This would be handy anyways in all areas. Any ideas/suggestions? Anyone know any good suppliers?

Tiger, thanks for the link. Nice products.
I've ordered package envelopes from https://www.mackaymitchellphotopak.com/ and they are not too expensive.
You can also make your own order envelopes with self adhesive envelopes that you run through your printer which is a cost effective way to do small runs.

Have you tried these?

I'm re-doing everything for next year including the order envelopes like this (right now use a business envelope and 8.5x11 sheet) and going "green" ditching plastic packaging and going to paper with window that's also recyclable soon as I find those.

No. I've never used those. I do like the idea of printing myself though. Different jobs have different requirements and therefore different pricing and I'm not a fan of buying 1000 envelopes for 500 customers and having waste when the next job has a different pricing schedule.
I've seen those used by others though. They print the proof on the envelope, kids take them home and fill out the order form (also printed on them), insert money and then take them back to the school.

That's what I was thinking, I print before every job and not in mass since I've changed things and had some go to waste already. Would like to see a sample though, wonder if the company sends any out :)

Mike,
let me know if you get a sample and what you think, I might have gone that way if I had know about it, I will say I hate opening up hundreds of sealed envelopes it does suck

I've used those Mackay envelopes. One of the cool things about them is they have a built-in tear away strip on one side of the envelope making them easy-to-open. Just be careful that no information you need ends up being written onto the strip area when you're designing your form. We use that area for some extra instructions so it's nothing we need when it gets torn off to open the envelope.
My one disapointment with these envelopes is there is a small bit of "MackayMitchell" text noting the item# in the lower corner of the envelopes. Even though our printed form specifically provides instructions to make checks out to our company name, we did actually have instances where a parent wrote a check to MackayMitchell when ordering photos. I've since added a block of lines to effectively ink-out the MackayMitchell text when we laser print the forms onto the envelope sheets.

Nick,
what kind of laser printer are you using and do you have to load the paper like envelopes or regular paper. I have a large brother laser and it doesn't do well with envelopes that is why I outsourced it however if it prints like an 8.5x11 sheet then it might work, just curious
thanks

Just thought I would offer some input on the Mackay envelopes, I requested some samples which they sent out right away and did some test prints using my Brother laser printer and they came out great. The tear away strip is great, no more cutting etc. It was easy to redesign the Order template to fit in the space and the envelope, thanks for recommending a great product I really appreciate it and will be ordering a lot soon

thanksSorry for the delayed reply ... but it looks like you've got it figured out. In any case, I have an HP2600 color laser and the envelopes load into and feed from the tray just like standard paper.
