Hatchets hairpin is a good place. It's at the end of the start/finish straight and you can get very close to the track from there.

Best tip....take waterproofs as it pours down there, seemingly most of the time :(

Daniel,

Pembrey is a dream for photography. They have no idea what a debris fence is there. So you can get some really nice low angles and very close to the action. The only real problem is they're sometimes a little lax in cutting the grass and it can get in your shots.

The best location is "Hatchetts Hairpin" at the end of the start/finish straight.

Some Pembrey galleries.

300mm is a great focal length for the circuit and 200mm is long enough at a pinch.

Glenn, I just checked out the photos on your site.

Those trucks are awesome. I've seen them on T-V in a circle track race, but never on a road course. I particularly liked this one. http://gallery.ukmotorsportpics.com/p6261902.html

I advise all to check out his site.

Ok thanks for the info guys.

I was going to give my Sigma 500mm F4.5 EX a good work out at the track, but i doubt ill be using it now. the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX wil have to make an appearance instead.

Thanks for the info guys.

Don't leave the 500mm at home... there are a couple of spots where it would make an interesting alternative and it's always nice to get a different angle on a shot. It certainly won't be your main lens of the day though!

Thanks Skip,

The trucks are big, loud, quick, smoky, smelly and not a lot stops them  You might have noticed in the shots that the marshals have abandoned their usual track side positions and have retreated up the spectator banking. That's a wise move as the Armco really isn't up to stopping one.

The biggest problem photographing them is all the smoke the diesels put out. After the first four or so go by it's like shooting through black smog
