I have tons of neighbors that are realtors, and I was thinking of asking them to do their House photographs for them.....I'm ordering a 20D tonight with 17-85mm. I had a D70 before, but am now stepping up to become a more advanced photographer.

What advice do you guys have for me? Also what kind of pricing would you consider?

I'm going to take some pictures of my house to see how I like them, and show them to the realitors to see how they like them.

This has been discussed quite a fww times on here.

Also you might want to correct the spelling in the title because Reality photography is totally different topic. I usually never correct spelling but this is changes the entire subject matter.

There is a small market of realty photos.

The problem is getting your friends and other realtors to actually pay you a fair price for 5 photos highlighting the house. As you know if you need 5 good shots to publish you will spend 1-2 hours taking photos inside and out, and then another 1-2 hours editing.

A fair price might be $250 or for high end luxary homes it could be $1000, but with so many people having P&S camera and thinking they can take good pictures, will it justtify paying you.

If you can talk them into it, go for it.

photographing reality... now there's a new concept!

they are spelled "realty" and "realtor".

on the topic of photography, a 17mm lens on a 20D may not be wide enough for some tight interior shots. the 10-22 may be a good candidate for that. you also may need a flash or two for interior lighting.

Good luck!!!!!!!!

Maybe this is geographically specific, but Realtors in my neck of the woods can be the biggest pain in the A** to work with/for.

Without going into event-specific details, make sure all aspects of the shoot are clear and in writing(contract). Make sure the terms of the contract, i.e. payment terms, are clear and understood. I've had to envoke the late fees for about 40% of the Realtors I've shot for.

IF you get through this exercise with the Realtor, have fun shooting and make some money!
