Hey all,

From this post here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=9040669&postcount=2650) i was thinking why not making one here, it will be a great thread then, because me and others really would like to see and learn and get inspired as well, so i hope this will be a big help for all members who are interested in that.

So please post the photo with its lighting diagram [indoors or outdoors, whatever], and i hope it shows the gear used noted clearly and if there is any photo sample or behind the scene shot it will be a plus!

So let's go

Here is my first post

This is a great idea Tareq. I have some shoots coming up and would love to add a diagram as well. Nice shots BTW.

Not sure why you started this thread when THIS ONE (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=432316&highlight=lighting+setup) already exists.

I know, but i was looking here in this thread to make it more details and clear, i wish the mod if they keep this thread going on then i hope they can delete the posts that didn't post a diagrams or didn't write the gear used, as many times when i see the diagram i would like to know what kind of light, or grid, or reflector or whatever, maybe for you it is easy to know what kind of lighting setup used there because you are smart, but me and some others we will keep asking which camera and which lighting and so if the post didn't show any setup details.

But if that is wasting time or you think it is redundant then you can ask for delete.

Also here anyone can post a video of "Behind a scene", that may help sometimes, not only a diagram, i put my effort to show setup or gear used, so why not others do if they can, i have many shots that i can post diagrams of them without any details of which gear or lighting setup used, we know each setup with different sizes or models and so can play a rule in different shaping or light spread and so, i may use exactly same setup of one diagram i saw without details just the objects/shapes of the lighting and then i don't have same results even with same room and distances, with details it will make life easier also it will make others to see if they want to go with same setup noted/wrote down or no after they see the results.

In theory it's a great idea but like any thread that has a dedicated purpose you're going to get posts and replies that veer off-topic, ask a question, make a comment and it won't have a diagram or image. Does that mean those people shouldn't be allowed to post or that those posts will be deleted? I think you just have to take it all in stride and hope that the majority of posts do have diagrams and setups, but if they don't, so be it.

I was meaning those posts of shots samples, other posts without samples or diagrams at all is fine even questions, but if i post a diagram without a photo result or a post a result only without a diagram is rejected, i know that will happen sometimes but if people really follow the instructions and post both the results and the diagrams with setup written down and shown then this will be a big help and not making any problem, but i really don't want people post incomplete here leaving others to come asking questions then, if everything is clear then no much questions about which gear/setup used there, but people can ask some off-topic questions like, is that lighting brand good? Should i use 20 degree grid? What light meter did you use? any color checker? those questions just to ask about specific tools things, sometimes i see the result sample and the diagram so clear shown the setup, but i want to ask about for example if pp is used there or which computer software used for editing, i may ask about the room space and dimensions, what room walls color, those questions are fine, but what other off-topic questions do you expect people will ask?

I missed it in the search.... hmmmm maybe a Moderator can pin one of the threads and we can add to it? Would stop people like me ...who are 1/2 awake...searching late a night for lighting diagrams...from starting new threads. :D

Thank you for the kind words... but... hardly a master at ligting. I just get lucky on occasion.

You have some very nice shots as well.
Appreciate the comments.

Maybe you asking too much?!!!
I wish this thread growing bigger, but not many here are on par with lighting i think, ans those masters are busy to post shots with diagram clear, so we just have to wait who is interested and do efforts to post here.

With your camera every thing that monster takes will look great. :) That sure is a very very nice camera and when you post a crop to be fair to us small FF post it at 400% so we are on the same playing field.

Man at 39 million, your photos shows so much detail in detail. :)

Great photos and lighting diagrams.

The portrait of the guy is the white balance off towards magenta ?

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Hi mate,

In fact for web size that doesn't matter if 8mp or 80mp, and i will not post crops ofcourse and no at 100% size here, but i can do crops as requests and send or show them somewhere, believe me, the details will blown away all those RAW files from Canon/Nikon cameras.

About the guy, i think the lighting strobe is bad, the background is black, i don't know why the color where bad, i think his i did bad retouch maybe to tone down that magenta, or something wrong, but i will play with the RAW file again and see, but really i don't like that light strobe in our photography club [temp is changing with power adjustments].

Tareq, no need for your to post or even email me any crops, all my comments are compliment to your camera. :)

I have read that with different power level, white balance can change.

I recently just bought a set of local 250ws studio strobes, and notice that it has a slight magenta cast to the photos.

Even if I use a grey card in the photo to correct white balance it does help but the whites are no longer white its a slight cast from the walls in the room.

Going to play around with some white foam core boards that I have.

I am not sure if some lights like Bronocolor and Profoto only have that consistency in color temperature in all power adjustments, but if there are another lights i would like to know, i am quit happy with my Hensel lights, don't have problem with that color temperature, but maybe i am wrong because with low power and underexposed the color is a bit reddish or warm, so is that normal with all lights or is that happen to some lights? I have to search about that.
To be honest, the first 2 shots of my daughter with her red sweet is underexposed more than 1 stop, and i increased the exposure on photoshop in fact but it still great color, the second is same as well, but i didn't like the effect so i played a bit to get different look.

In fact sometimes i get the lighting spot on without light meter, and those up with light meter didn't get me on par or the look i want, because i am confused between the accurate exposure and between the "Preferable"/"favorite" exposure, many accurate exposures i have didn't get my favorite anyway.
