Hi! I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what camera and lens they use at Portrait Innovation Studio. I am in a debate with a friend about them and I can't seem to find any info about what camera they use. Can anyone help?

I am not familiar with that company, but I am guessing it's a photo studio type place in shopping malls like Picture People? Call and ask them what they shoot with.

It is like picture perfect. I did call them and they won't tell me.

Wow? I wonder why not. You could always go in and look if one is nearby you. I'll look one up and see if they will tell me... I am bored.

Which one did you call so I call another?

I didn't read through it but here is a six page thread about them...

Yeah, thanks for the thread. I looked through it but it didn't give any specific cameras or lenses on the thread. I called one in Michigan so if you find one that will give you info let me know. Thanks.

I called one in Oregon. They use this one

The guy on the phone didn't know what lens they use. I didn't push it.

Why does it matter what they use? Just curious

Yeah, the fujifilms thing is what they just used on our shots. the lens looked to be a 17-50ish thing...maybe 18-135ish? can't remember now.

Yeah, the family shot we had done the top half is blown out. My almost completely gray hair blends in pretty nicely:) I offered...but then again, I'm still learning....so I might not have done any better (yet).

my avatar is from Portrait innovations. as you can see, there are a number of skin tones in my family. Dark is usually the problem we have when we've used them. We mentioned it, and this time it was almost in the reverse.

I like them because they just burn off shots. Lots to chose from. I wish my wife would let me try and that I felt more confident to do it. They did a better job than the shots we had taken of our newest edition when he was at the hospital. Maybe her shots were so so because she was shooting with a Nikon?:) I kid!

I worked for them down here in Charleston SC. They used Fuji cameras. believe we had 17-55ish lenses. I remember the dials were taped off so we couldn't adjust the settings at all! LoL. Looking back their lighting setup was sweet. All controlled through the computer. You just clicked what type of light you wanted and the software auto adjusted the strobes.
Hated working there only because it was like selling cattle. You moved em in. Shoot shoot shoot. move em out. Sell sell sell. rinse and repeat. got very old very fast and leaves no room for creativity.
But hey they make bank here!! lol. Must be doing something right!

We went to Potrait Innovations last year because they sent us a card in the mail for an incredible amount of prints of various sizes for like $9.95. I told my wife it was worth 10 bucks to me to see their lighting and camera/lens combo. I was not impressed at all. Their "photographers" didn't know what aperture was and the pictures were terrible. It's a cookie-cutter, assembly line system and most people don't know the difference so they make money. People like the fact that they can get their prints in minutes but don't realize how poor the quality is.

portrait innovations is a joke! wish i had the money to set up a studio in a prime location like the one by me. Their pics are horrible! The ones i've seen anywho. However, the outside of the building and the inside (from what i can see by walking by) look very nice. I've often thought about applying for a job their working one or two nights a week just to get some practice with studio. I can never bring myself to follow through though.

a side note... it's crap places like them that give the public this mentality that photographers should offer prints for so cheap. oh well, people are cheap and will always go for the cheap product. uuugh

+1 on the uuugh!!

I took my son there before I started getting serious about photography and the lighting was so bad that his blond hair was BLOWN in a major way - looked like he only had a forehead the rest of his head with blown with the bg. I finally had to tell them to use something else. So thankful that my skills have improved and acquired enough equipment to do it myself!! :)
