Hi everyone,

I just got a camera (have never owned one in my life) because I want to get into photography. There are a few methods that I have seen that I'd love to use, but I have no idea what they are called OR how to do them.

Here are a few examples of what i'm talking about.

this time delay sort of deal:

i know this must be post-editing, but still, i'd like to know what has been done to make this:

and this blurred/washed out sort of deal:

if anyone can help me out with identifying what these methods are and how to do them, that'd be awesome! thanks.

have you tried bulb mode? you hold the shutter open for a while until you get the effect you like

also what kind of camera do you have?

You can get most of these effects using the TV setting on your camera(depending what kind you got).

if you set your tv to a long exposure, say 5 seconds you can:

For the first picture stand in front of it and have your head in one direction for 2.5 seconds(keep your body still) then move your head for the rest of the time.( you will need to set your timer or use a shutter button).

For the second one its about the same method. Stand in front of a background similar to the house, set the timer (maybe for a longer time) stand in front of the camera for half the time then quickly run out of the scene or duck down for the remainder of the exposure.

The last one just seems blurry to tell the truth. You can probably get that by setting your lens to manual focus then just not have it in focus.
