Ok im very new to photography, i just bought a Canon Rebel t1i with the kit lens, a canon speedlite 430 exii, and a gary fong cloud flash diffuser. i got hired at a small nightclub in my city to shoot. i start tonight. but i wanted to eventually get results like the pictures below:

not the models, but the lighting? any tips any comments? any help would be appreciated, thanks alot :)

High ISO, long shutter.

High ISO being, probably ISO800.
Long shutter being, around 1/4th.

The kit lens has IS, so don't be afraid to drop the shutter to even 1 second or more at 18mm.

bring a monopod to help you hold it at 1/4!! I rarely try handholding under 1/60 (maybe 1/40 pushing it).
