not interesting? too minimal? wtf is he thinking?
i like it for some reason but it doesn't "go anywhere" or do anything.
hm.

too much sky, and too much of the same color. I'm no pro but the water just doesn't look like water. and the ladder (?) is kind of distracting as well. Also wish the mountains weren't so hazy and had more contrast.

I like it as is and it could be printed a few different ways and be good too.

Lack of interest for me. Sorry, but there's just nothing to draw me in.

As I scroll down it on my laptop once the top 1/3rd is gone, I like it better. Just the dock and poles, no horizon. As is, it does not work at all I think in part because the lighting changes too much from top to bottom. As far as the choking air feeling from smoke, the sky is just too light and you can see the mountains too clearly for that feeling to dominate.

I like it, but I would like it better with the dock cropped a little more. As it is, I feel the dock overpowers the subtle tones of the landscape and prevents my eye from taking in the entire photo.
As far as the feeling, the near monochromatic color combined with the stillness of water evoke to me, serenity, rather than choking.

so what is with the 2 poles? ;-)
actually i kind of like the tones - the subject matter is not as interesting. It would be better if it was either MORE minimal (no poles!) or had a little boat in the water or something like that. But i suppose if its not there, its not there.

No "human factor".

My wife liked this - she felt the poles/ladder allowed you to safely step into the image

This might be more a function of my monitor than the photo, but it seems just a pinch to dark. That said, I like it more than the rest seem to. It's very calming. It would be neat to play around with it a pinch and see what a BW version would do? Also, since it already has a bit of muted purple tone, maybe lighten just a pinch and draw out more of that purple.

I actually have more that I LIKE about it than DISlike. I like the simple aspect of it, truth be told. However, when Im looking at it two things come to mind. I think it might be a touch underexposed and, with the correction on the exposure, what would it look like in B&W? Something like this, maybe?

+1 on the too much sky. Overall tone is flat. I do like the foreground element.

Wonder what it would have looked like in a landscape crop as opposed to a portrait one?

I like the mood of the first one, but agree with the cropping comments. Take out the majority of the sky.

Completely agree. Not interesting enough. When the eyes finally get down to the two posts, it gets dark, so you lose interest again. Like what Flo is saying, I think a landscape one might look better.

I don't know... if given more color & a more dramatic sky, I quite like it

That's a nice print Lore. That's what makes this image work well IMO. There are many ways to print it. It's spacious with a solid placement of the elements in the scene and open to interpretation.

I agree, I think I like it more with less sky.
