Whoa!!!
Nice shots! We don't see too many of these here in the PNW. I used to see lots of them in Calif. when I lived there.
They are a remarkable bird.

EXCELLENT Catches! I cant say enough about these. I had a group of 7 or 8 of them fly right through the neighborhood last year and lit in a tree for a short break while I was out for a walk. I had broken the Cardinal rule by not having my camera with me. :(
I did a little research afterwards and found that they will migrate great distances (across half the States or more and down into Mexico). I never saw them again. :( :(

Those would be Vultures or Condors, which I believe are the same.

Thanks Bruce, Dan! Those are Turkey Vultures. They love to hover over the area where the roadkills are.
I know they are conspicuous in the south during summer. I had seen some in GA, MS and of course TX when the weather got hot.

Nice capture. You want turkey vultures come to Ohio. I see them every day. They do provide a great service in keeping the roadkill clean though. They have a defense mechanism which is a "vomit" that they will spew out when approached closely. Let me tell you there's not much that could possibly smell much worse than that. Maybe a little more than you wanted to know lol. Again, nice pictures.

You DO? WOW! They are a RARE sight around here. Post some Photos?
I'm also amazed that you could get close enough for them to have to use their self defence (vomit). Tell us more? I'm facinated with these Birds. :)
Thanks, Bruce
