I love that shot in black and white. There is a lot of texture and graphic design in the picture. Great shot.

Hey, alright, my alma mater! Glad to see they turned the fountain back on. Still not a fan of the "muffler" they put around the engineering mall fountain, that was a "blast" to run through! :)
Great job on the capture! I love the sky - the B&W makes it look rather surrealistic, but your daughter keeps it planted firmly in reality, with the fountain acting as a great transition between the two.
One thing I would suggest would be to lighten up the eyes - at first it looks like she's ready to hit the field at Ross-Ade, but then it looks kinda scary when you realize that the black spots are her eyes.

Hey.... yes, I agree about the muffler on the engineering mall fountain... what a joke. Oh well, this one is still fun to play in. You're right, the eyes are way too dark. This was a tough exposure without a fill flash to use, and her eyes are very large and very dark to begin with. I liked the contrasts though, so I decided to use it anyway. Are you still around the area?

great looking effect. what trickery did you do to the shot? it looks like a mild solarisation was applied to certain areas?

I think it looks great, the sky seems to come down to or from the fountain. I agree about your daughters eyes though.

Thanks for the comments.
...no trickery with the shot though. I didn't apply any filters or 'canned' effects, just made adjustments to levels, curves & shadow/highlight stuff. Of course, it was a RAW file to start with, so the effects started in the RAW conversion.
