Hi I have a wedding to shoot tomorrow first one after many many months of practice and study and guess what? we have torrential rain forcast and not a very good reception venue. Also in a register office that only allows outdoor photographs! Any advice please?

Stay indoors. Find a space away from the guests, or in a different building entirely if possible. The only difference is the background, capture the emotion.

I have a wet wedding today. No problem.

Ooh, the weather does look pretty horrible for your part of the uk. Not a fun time for weddings. As Tim says, focus on the emotions and details of the day and try to find a dry spot if you can. If the register office won't allow photos you'll have to make the best of the reception venue. I had a wet wedding last year and we managed to get outside for shots between showers. With luck you might have a dry period...but I'm not sure you will looking at the forecasts. Good luck!

Its very rare that it rains all day long, so take advantage of any dry spells that you do get and if it does rain continuous just get out there with brollies, even if its raining hard you can make the shots look bright and sunny.

Video is of me and Nick shooting during a downpour at one of our "summer" weddings earlier this year.

Just be glad that you're not in Cockermouth today.

I agree with PMC. Bring an umbrella! I would also like to add, a change of socks and shoes and enjoy it!!

In all seriousness, a wet wedding is just like any other wedding, only wetter. Bring a poncho, umbrelas (plural), and extra socks and shoes.

I was really disappointed with the photographs myself as I had gone from using all automatic settings to manual and had not allowed for the ISO having to go up to 1600 without a flash and the photos coming out grainy. However the bride loved the photos after my post production so maybe Im beating myself up too much. Am now looking to buy an off camera flash for my 450D but not sure which one to get. Thanks for asking.
