Need some user opinions regarding tripod

[Methodical]

I've decided to purchase the Feisol CF tripod (Ct 3442 or 3342). I don't know whether to get the 3 or 4 leg version. Currently, I use the Manfrotto 055xprob tripod but want a lighter tripod for my hikes.

My set would be the following: (about 8lbs total)

1D3, 400 5.6 + 1.4 sitting on a Jo Bu gimbal head, flash bracket and 580 II

or

1D3 300 f4 sitting on a Jo Bu gimbal head, flash bracket and 580 II or

Well if you plan on using it while hiking you would probably want the one with 4 legs extensions because it can collapse smaller the the 3 leg version.
