I think I am just looking for someone else to ease my worries. I have Aaduki insurance here in the UK. I recently had two bodies and a lens stolen from my bags when traveling from Rome to the UK. I started the claim process the very same day and filed the police report. A week later Chubb who underwrites Aaduki policies agreed. Another week later, trying to get rental gear - Chubb says a mistake had been made and the order of replacement gear shouldn't have been issued. They said for claims over a certain amount they want to meet with me and have me fill out a few reports? Is this normal... I think I am meeting with a loss adjuster.

Thanks

Joe

Insurance companies do get scammed a lot so they are more than likely just wanting to test your metal...Read your policy carefully and know it before you meet with them..Insurance companies are well known for their intimidating tactics used to flush out scammers which you it seems should have no fear of....It's a bit of a psych test ....

Definitely know your policy. Read and understand it. Insurance companies, whether health, auto, property, etc., they all consider a payout as a loss and will do anything they can to avoid or reduce the amount of a payout.

I have looked over it. I havent see anything that jump out at me thus far. I think I took all the precautions needed when traveling. What bugs me is that they approved it and then backtracked and said someone without enough experience approved it.

The key there is they did approve it. Their mismanagement is not your problem. Perhaps they'll want to change your policy or drop you after this but if you're covered by the contract then you should be fine.

I have no written approval though. Just a phone conversation between my insurer telling me they approved it.

Always get it in writing. I hope this works out for you. Let us know how it goes.

I have an email letting me know they shouldn't have agreed it initially. I suppose that is good enough.

The problem is I might be making this worse than it is and I dont want to go in all guns blazing and piss them off. My insurer says that the underwriter just wants to meet me and fill in a few forms.

But like people have said, they will be interrogating me in a way and use big insurance legal words to trip me up. But the good thing is I can always just stop the interview and say I want help dealing with this matter as I feel I am being tricked somehow.

I mean the theft is so straightforward. I just feel the rug has been yanked from under my feet.

I think you are making too much of this. When your car is stolen or damaged, the insurance would send someone as well. You are assuming that you are going to get screwed, but that does not have to be the case. Insurance companies have to do their own due diligence and I think it is only fair to meet with you before they approve the claim (no, I do not work for an insurance company, but I can see their logic).

I agree too. But its not a nice feeling to have the claim agreed and then be told nope we need a mistake. My rep said that normal procedure is to meet with people on claims like this. So yes it is normal. But when you cant speak with someone who knows whats going on and have to wait a weekend to deal with anything it isnt nice.
