The more rigs I look at and the more I discuss beginning to attempt macro photography it is clear you need:

1) Macro lens
2) A decent flash - one that has the capability to be adjusted and taken off camera if possible
3) Tripod

Well I will have the lens and a decent flash. I already have the tripod. I will have the Canon Speedlite 430 EX II flash. Is it worth purchasing a flip flash bracket and the accessory to take my flash off the camera so that I can bring light closer to the subject as seen on some rigs in this forum?

the advantage of the bracket is not only placing the light more close to the subject (making the recycle times smaller) but also place it on an certain angle, making the shadows drops visible (or removing them if you want).
