View Full Version : Ordering online delayed shipping

I ordered a Canon 20D this past Tuesday (6/7) and I paid extra on the shipping so I would have it on the weekend. I ordered online instead of by phone for a few reasons--so a camera review site that I used would get credit, so I wouldn't have to hear the sales pitch about other things I should buy, and because it is often quicker to order online than to wait for the next available person.

The camera won't get to me until Monday despite my higher shipping charge because the company (Butterflyphoto) didn't ship it until yesterday (Thursday 6/9), right after a sales person contacted me by phone to try and sell additional items. The sales pitch I can accept because I know that's just part of their job, but the 48 hour delay in shipping caused by them waiting until they could reach me in person basically defeats the purpose of online shopping.

Has anyone else had this type of problem? My guess is that other companies might do the same thing, especially when someone is ordering a camera body and therefore might be in the market for numerous accessories.

Frank.

Sales Pitch? I order from B&H. Sends it out right away. No pitches.

I went and read some of the reviews at resellerratings and wish I had done so before hand. At the very least I would have known what to expect. Unlike some of the reviews that I read about rude and basically dishonest experiences, I thought the sales person was basically "telemarketing pushy" (wouldn't take no for an answer) and my item was shipped within a couple of hours of my phone conversation. My biggest complaint is the fact that they didn't ship right away after I ordered online.

For the record, I did order a lens and some accessories from B&H by phone. When their salesperson ask if there would be anything else that I needed it came across more as being helpful to me rather than pushing for a bigger sale for him.

it why I didn't huge research before I shop online, too many reselers.
I usually buy from B&H, Onecall, Newegg....

I got my camera from Onecall, ordered friday and got it saturday morning
One time they had a glich in the system and I could see my order process after 2 days I call them, and they paid extra for shipment and I still got my order in time. Great online store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
