I ordered a Canon 20D this past Tuesday (6/7) and I paid extra on the shipping so I would have it on the weekend. I ordered online instead of by phone for a few reasons--so a camera review site that I used would get credit, so I wouldn't have to hear the sales pitch about other things I should buy, and because it is often quicker to order online than to wait for the next available person.
The camera won't get to me until Monday despite my higher shipping charge because the company (Butterflyphoto) didn't ship it until yesterday (Thursday 6/9), right after a sales person contacted me by phone to try and sell additional items. The sales pitch I can accept because I know that's just part of their job, but the 48 hour delay in shipping caused by them waiting until they could reach me in person basically defeats the purpose of online shopping.
Has anyone else had this type of problem? My guess is that other companies might do the same thing, especially when someone is ordering a camera body and therefore might be in the market for numerous accessories.
Frank.
