Hello,
I just purchased the Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM Autofocus Lens from B&H. Great service by the way. I'm hoping it's going to be a sharp lens. Any input from owners appreciated.;)
I am a bit confused though. Naturally, trying to get the best deal possible, I checked prices on the "bay" and B&H is offering the same lens USA brand new for less than they are going for on eBay. Furthermore with rebate!! That's what made me pull the trigger. Am I missing something?
Thanks !

You can always find things cheaper on ebay and other obscure shops, but a lot of the time it is scams. You made a good choice buying from B&H.
The lens is great. Here is one of my best photos taken with this lens

No, you're not missing anything. The 70-200 really holds it's value. This same topic was brought up a few weeks ago. I believe the conclusion was that bidders on ebay were either:
a) too stupid/lazy/ignorant to realize they can get it cheaper from a retailer like B&H
or
b)are from a foreign country and can get it cheaper through ebay
I'm ordering the 70-200 in the next few weeks and will definitely be buying it new from B&H or Beach Camera. The great thing about it is, when/if I get the itch for the f/2.8 I know I can sell it on ebay with little to no loss, or possibly even a profit :)
Here is the thread I was talking about:

Tommy:
Great picture. Nice and sharp at 4.0. I'm really excited to receive the lens. Thanks for sharing the picture!
Chris:
No kidding. I feel so much better. I thought I had overlooked a macro, or some kind of feature in the lenses sold on eBay. I wish I could afford a 2.8 as well. Looks like this was a great choice for the time being :p
