Anyone put a filter on their 50mm? How about a hood?
Thanks

The arguements are the same for any lens regarding both of these. However, the economics make the filter less attractive (if it is for protection, one has to weigh up the cost of the filter compared to the cost of the lens). If you use a low quality filter that rather defeats the object, but the shade is a good idea in any event.

Always use the hood. Using a filter is debatable. Some like it, some don't. But if you haven't got the hood, you really should. It not only protects the lens but cuts down on the effects of stray light.

I got myself a polarizer, and I have ordered a neutral one too, just for t 50mm f1.4. I sort of hope I'll be able to get more control on the apperture in sun/daylight with them.
