It's not what you would call pretty, but it sure is graceful! There were 300 or so flying, feeding and sleeping their time away as our guest offshore!

The Pelician was soaring upwind and moving fast. My vantage point was 30ft. or so above, had to take it and hope for the best!
Here is a shot that I had more time to compose!

Nice shots. Are you living in Louisianna ?
I love the whales and the birds. We get Minke and Fin Backs in the St Laurence River. To see them you leave the pier in JulyAugust with air temps at say 28C -- but you bring along your winter wear.
On the river the temp & fog can be thick an cold!
"... there it is.. that sound and "cabbage" breathing. Hope that you don't get run over by the dozen unseen inflatables that I hear converging for the close up..."
Ahat a wonderful experience. Thanks for reminding me.

Howie,
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad it reminded you of some pleasant experiences (sounds terrific)!
Yes, I live in Louisiana. However, I took these Brown Pelician photos while at work, approximately 60 miles offshore. The location is a production facility, my home away from home every other 7-days!
Take Care,
Ted

Just saw these beautiful shots of the brown pelicans.
in australia they are very different.
I haven't seen brown ones before.
don't think so anyway.
the sea is a peculiar colour
like deep velvet material
easily know you are off shore with the way this fellow is flying towards you.
did you 'duck' ? (sorry pelican : )
I don't suppose many could catch this bird in flight like it unless out at sea
it seems like he is heading straight for your camera
love the bird and the yellow bars in number two shot also
will look at what you mention 'marine life portfolio' another time as its pretty late here now
thanks & good luck
marie
next day >
just adding a few more comments as I got to seeing the rest of the pictures this evening theo
my favourites are the 'six pack ' and the 'three stooges'

all are very good
thanks

Hi Marie,
Yes, I had to "duck" (He-He)! But not because of that chap, but because of his buddies and the Gulls flying overhead. I just hate to get dumped on, if you know what I mean!
Thanks for viewing!!
