I'm shopping for a new compact digital. I really love the vari-angle screen on my S2-IS, but i'd like something smaller with more megapixels. I know it's kind of hard to find that combination as the screen adds some bulk to it, but does anyone have any suggestions?
the G11 looks good but is more than i want to pay. i already have a dSLR too so i don't need to go super high end - this is more for fun but not sacrificing too much quality of course.

and I know this is a Canon forum, but I'm open to other brands if there's something out there that matches what I want.

Stating your budget on this purchase will help narrow down your choices.

Pretty much your only new Canon options with the flip-out screen are the G11, SX-1, SX-10 and SX-20. You might look for a reconditioned or used A650 (or other A6xx series), or the G6, which was the last G-series until the G11 to have a flip-out screen. But personally I wouldn't go back any further than the A630 if you choose to go the "used" route. And the A630-A650 are the only options with a fold-out screen that are going to be significantly smaller than the S2-IS.

Canon S-650 cameras are really hard to find right now. You might have better luck looking for a used G-6.

Have a great day and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Yeah, my wife uses an A630 and is very fond of it.

I just purchased an SX20IS and I am quite pleased with it so far.I really like the 20x zoom for bird photos.
