so I calculate the exposure, set up my lights, go in front of the camera, and the picture is blurry, can I set the focus with the RF-602's by pressing the button halfway ?
If not, is there an efficient way to get nice sharp pictures at very small DOF like 85mm f/1.2 or 200mm f/2
thanks

setup a lightstand or tripod and focus on the center column. Then mark where the center column is with a piece of tape on the floor. Then stand on x marks the spot, and take the picture.

How ? Your not supposed to move the camera, your supposed to move the object that you pre-focused on and position your self there instead. And make sure you dont have AF-on when you use a remote or timer.

Manual focus.

x2. Pre-focus and keep it at MF.

If you're feeling really technical you could measure the distance from the camera and just set the focus using the distance scale.

But using the stand and tape method is much, much easier.

Make sure your camera is set to AI Focus, and also that Cfn 4 is set to 0. That is that the half shutter press causes focus lock. That works for me.

I think that's what I was looking for, my DOF is about 2cm...
thanks

If you can afford those lenses, I suggest hiring someone to help you take the photo.

That's what I do!
Or if you're just going for a headshot, rig up an extension cable for your remote release (not wireless though, I dunno if the OP's is wireless or not, I made my own and have no idea about model numbers) and just press the focus button when you're in the right place.

Take AF off the shutter button and prefocus on a surrogate target, and then position yourself at the pre-focused target position. Or,

Leave AF on the shutter button, but prefocus on a surrogate target and then set the lens to MF before moving yourself to the target position.

wow thanks for the answer, I live with my gf, but she's not always around, thus the reason of this thread !
I'm sure if I pay you enough you'll lick my ass.

thanks guys, I think the RF-602 triggering is the best solution
