Hi,
My A70 was givin E18 error while closing. One day it went down. I took it to the repair shop, they said they changed the optical part completely. But still very rare, but still it makes the same thing. Not very frquent indeed and has no harm but I wonder if anyone faced with that?

Unless you can see what was replace, you don't really know. The problem is with the small gears. If the shop replace a "whole optical assembly" perhaps that included the gears.
I had one of these errors once, when batteries were low, so I have interest in the E18 error. Read that you can get access to the gears and have a look for yourself, if it keeps happening. Thing to make sure is that you batteries are either well charged, or fresh.

That's very good info, thank you so much.

The E18 error doesn't have anything to do with the batteries. It's a problem with the lense shifting just slightly (due to repetitive open/close process) which renders the camera practically useless in some cases where it occurs.
A quick google search of the error will show you that it's a very common problem with this particular camera. Mind you, some people never run into it, but if you have, prepare for a repair to cost about as much as a new camera.
For me, this problem comes in spurts. The camera will semi-function on some occasions, not function at all on other occasions, and work just fine at other times.
I was very happy with my A70 until this problem surfaced but have decided to upgrade to a Rebel (soon) so as not to have to deal with it.
