So, I know this isn't ideal. The sun was really bright and I caught a little too much sun on the side of his face. Overall, is this a decent shot?

Anything I can do to make it better since it is already taken and I can't do anything about the sun.

THANKS!!!

EDIT:::: NEW EDIT IN POST # 10

Do you have an editing software?

You could try darkening the background a bit to draw attention back to the face.

Would I be happy with this?

Yes, absolutely. If that were my kid or if I knew who it was.

It's a cute shot.

Not having any emotional connect to the photo and looking at it strictly photographically, the subject is square in the center of the image and square to the camera and like you said the background is really bright. I like the concept though. That outfit is cute and the whole baseball thing is neat.

Maybe try again with the same outfit and baseball theme, but look for a more subtle background and angle the subject a bit so they are not square to the camera. (give em a quarter turn to your favorite side.)

Thanks. I have a really hard time with getting a good crop. I may go back and play with the original a little bit.

not bad... could use some sharpening and I think it would look better in this instance if the baby was looking at the camera. Here a few ideas... mind you i did them in about 2 minutes but they may give you some creative inspiration. Maybe this would look good in b&w or selective color...

don' laugh when you see the selective color one... like i said, it is only a sample lol as I obviously did not take my time.

No.

The background is too blown out. The light on the subject isn't all that wonderful, and well the kid looks pretty bored to be there. I know it's not easy to get a good facial expression on a baby, but without one it doens't look so good.

I couldn't be..my advice would be to find a shaded area and a consistent background

Thanks for your examples. I turned on image editing ok... so don't worry about the edits.

I like your prints Nakid ... I like the subject too and it's a little hot but still holds together as an image for me. The focus is a little soft. Amazing how big that glove looks in his hands. I have a 2 year old great niece and it's a real treat to see the world through her eyes.

Great! Thanks! I happen to love the look on his face and his overall body language... just the sun was bothering me

Another vote for the second version. And I like the look on his face & body language too.

Composition is much better on the second one. I still am not fond of the expression or blown out background - I know you tried to fix it, but it just ends up muddied and with little detail. Others may not see it as I do - being a photographer and all - as to me it's obvious it's edited.

"Would you be happy with this picture? "

Depends on how much I had to pay for it. Most mothers could do the same shot in their backyard for free. In order to charge for photography yours must be better then theirs.

Lighting is where it is at.
