When i read this camera has a crop factor of 1.6 and this lens has a crop factor of 1.3 what does this mean and why do I need to know this. I want to get more educated on the terms of digital photography.

Lenses don't have "crop factors", cameras do. This term is commonly used with digital SLRs with interchangeable lenses, and stems from the fact that except for a couple high-end, high-price models, most have image sensors smaller than a frame of 35mm film, so they capture a smaller part of "the scene" than a 35mm film camera would when used with the same lens.
