My first time shooting a DJ. I need faster glass to bump down the shutter speeds but I like how these came out for the most part

Equipment: 40D w/ 28-135 IS, 430ex, diffuser for a 580 rigged to fit

You don't need faster glass, as that would give you even less depth of field. f/2.8 is about it for these types of shots IMO. And you were at f/3.5. That's only 2/3 of a stop.

Using a higher ISO would have helped though. ISO 3200 is 2 1/3 stop faster then ISO 640 ;)
