I took this photo and love the bird jumping off the rock, but the sun was weird and the lighting was awful. Is there anything I can do to improve this photo. Everything is just blending together?

As far as PP, I don't know of any way to get the front of the bird facing in the picture :). For action and sports shots you always try for the front if possible. Also a faster shutter would make the wings more interesting. Just my opinion of course.

LOL, I purposely took the bird from the back. Trying to figure out if there is something I can do with the colors to make the bird stand out more.

Why not stick an orange filter effect over the water, there looks like a bit of late afternoon light on the bird so it should stand it.

The bird on the left, the subject, is not in focus and is underexposed.
