yep, 1/80 is way too slow for any sports. As you might note, there is way too much motion blur in your images. You need 1/400 at a minimum and you are NOT going to get it with the light you have and using only 1600 ISO.

I agree with the other comments regarding shot speed and the need for more light. On the bright side some of your shots show a good understanding of the sport, the action, and positioning for the shot. Keep shooting... try to shoot some day games with the shot speed comments in mind.

Use the delete button.... and start again and shoot in daylight as you cant handle night time shooting yet

A little underexposed but good job on your soccer photo shoot attempt.

What metering mode did you use? a quick adjust in CS3 looks like they are anything from 1.5 to 3 stops under exposed!

I agree with the shutter speed being slow but to be honest in that kind of light your going to struggle with F2.8 as your max, if your have already underexposed by 2 stops (meaning your ISO 1600 is actually eqv to ISO 6400) just to get 1/80 then it too dark to do anything about it. Something like a 85mm f1.8 might help but your not going to get the reach.

well done under the circumstances but sometimes it's better to put the camera away and just enjoy the game
