White balance appears to be off some in the first two. They appear to be sharp, looks like they could just use some color and contrast enhancements. Did you blur that make-up kit more in post? It really looks like it. The group shot, the sun killed it. Like 5 the best.

number 2... edited (i edited this from my work computer, aka, crappy monitor, so I don't exactally know how it will look on a calibrated monitor)

Fireplaces are tough to do portraits as the pink of the brick may not make the subject look good. But super saturating does help. Your images are okay, but it's missing some depth. What equipment and settings did you use since I can't see the EXIF?

I thought 4 and 5 were nice.

sctbiggs, nice edit done. what edits did you do? can you share them?

Nancy, nice shots on 4 and 5. Do you happen to know the settings? I really like it.

Thanks for posting.

Hi I really love the No. 2

But you can use photoshop to give it an extra looking.

Step by Step:
1- Duplicate the picture layer
2- Set up in Screen mode
3- Use the Gaussian blur filter to make it really soft
4-Pres Command+Alt+Shift+E to get a new layer with the all the adjustments
5- Go to noise and choose Dust and Scratches and make a new mask to clean the face *this is not necessary
6- make the black a little dark with curves in the shadow section
7- Use color balance to give a warm tone
Mid Tones: Red Color +20
Shadows: Red +5; Yellow -24
8- recover detail in the dress
9- Go to filter, and choose Distort --> Lens Correction and put some vignetting

and rock and roll

ralliart... i really don't know what i did. spent 5 minutes on it. mainly just some curves and skin smoothing. (just barely). after that, the hair was too dark so i had to copy layer, adjust for some highlights to come back, and mask through. Also, did another layer for the veil because when doing the curves I lost some detail there. If you look above the veil and to the left of it you can see erratic brush marks from not taking my time. if it was mine and i was doing it for a client, i would have worked more on the skin around the eyes and whole face in general. and toned down the redness in her skin, except on her cheeks. also, looking at it now, i lost some color in her eyes. I'd have to bring that back.

rodolfo... how do your pronounce that?

anywho, not feeling that edit. she had an image that was already sharp, why soften it? now, if i have blown images that i screwed up that are soft i will edit them to make them look like i did it intentionally. other than that, I don't see why to soften it up so much. it makes the skin on her arm look good but that's about it. would like it much better if you would have left her eyes and mouth sharp like the original.

Im from Mexico City and my name is comun, but in English it will be Rudolph like Santa.
My English is not so good, but i get the main idea, you can recover detail making a mask on the image, you know is a JPG and is less than 400 pix, so I like the picture just like that, and we can make a lot of difference version of the same picture at the end the photographer has the decision, I only give a few tips for people that is new in this area!

I hope you enjoy my video and if you have any question Im try to answer the best I can, or you can write it on Spanish :p

Hey Rodlfo. I just saw the video that you have. That was great.

Since I am just learning photoshop, the video will also help (although I find it really fast). great job in giving a crash course on your editing. Keep it up.

I think that these are nice shots... they just need a little boost :)
# 2 is my fav...it just lacked pop and was a tad under exposed...i did a quick edit for ya: (I did my best with the provided compressed files(they were pretty small)...they may seem a tad sharp)
before:
http://jwilsonphotography.smugmug.com/Other/Advertising/potnbridal2p/724153538_jMFHf-L.jpg
After
http://jwilsonphotography.smugmug.com/Other/Advertising/potnbirdal2/724153521_kxyii-L.jpg

and #1 suffered from the same thing:
before:

after:
http://jwilsonphotography.smugmug.com/Other/Advertising/potnbridal/724153532_dGmJd-L.jpg

Just a curves adjustment, a LITTLE bit of smoothing and skin touch up. Literally less than 1 minute on each photo... I used a TRA action on her eyes to lighten them up and give them a little extra pop

I really like the softening done by rodolfo. I do that a lot, too. One thing I do is to paint the eyes back in at 80% opacity.

Not sure I like the edits. They seem to loose some of the natural look.
