noob flash/sync cord/hot shoe question

I am on a really low budget, thus I have purchased a Vivitar DF340Z flash for the time being. I would like to use it off camera with a sync cord. I have the Rebel T1i body, so no PC cable ports. Can anyone recommend a good sync cable/hot shoe combo that would allow me to attach the flash to a tripod?
