Sharpening help-please CC

I'm trying to get better at sharpening my photos. I took this with my 50mm/1.4 at 1/50, so I know the shutter speed is a little slow, but I did some editing in Lightroom and here's the finished product, output at 85% quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

f/2.8, bounced flash, I believe.

Since you bounced flash why was the shutter speed so slow? If you cut the shutter to 1/200 you probably wouldn't have the blown highlights and the shot would have more even lighting around the subject in addition to darkening the background a little to separate it from the subject. It just looks over exposed. The left picture looks a little out of focus.
