is there a simple on/off button for the flash on a D30?
I've looked through the manual and all I find are the
"P" settings.
the powershots have a nicely placed button right on top,
I'm surpised
The D30 doesn't have it??

You mean to stop it popping up when you don't want it to?
Come out of the "easy shooting" modes and use Av, Tv or Manual (possibly P as well, I don't use that so can't say for sure) and the flash will only pop up when you press the button on the pentaprism housing to say you want it.
AFAIK in the easy shooting modes it pops up when it thinks it needs to - I'm assuming a bit here, since I haven't ever used those modes on my D30 since finding the same thing on my EOS300 several years ago.

thats what I thought,
thanks.
I'm use to using my G2 in full auto and I just turn the flash on or off with the button next to the viewfinder.
I thought maybe there would be a similair setup without switching to manual.
