It was shot at sunset and I must of taken about 25 to 30 shots from various places around the pond and couldn't get the right exposure, mostly using manual setting. I managed to help it somewhat in processing but it still has that dark look.

If you are using PS, try setting your White, Grey and Black points in Levels then adjusting the RGB Curve - this is all I've done (3 minutes in PS) and its produced a slightly better image.

Nice shot! I love swamps and ponds like that, I also like the original a little better. Swamps/ponds like these usually have that dark ominous look to them anyway.
