I thought I'd post up a star trails shot I took a few months back. Stitched together with some software called "Startrails" - http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html

Most of the shots were 2 min exposures, F5 and ISO 100. Shot with a Canon 10-22mm and a Canon 30D

Oh, that's lovely! I'd personally have upped the ISO a touch, as that purpley/blue down on the horizon is gorgeous and it wouldn't hurt to bring it out a little. But that's just my own personal preference.

What Castle's that?

very nice Chris, I think you can go back and shoot some more to get longer trails and it would look even better!

Like Adrena1in said, if you up the ISO a touch, you'll also bring out more stars and fill the sky up a little more. It might even look neat to move the north star over to the left of center and leave the castle where it's at, just right of center.

Great shot though. I'd kill for a foreground like that. Well done!

What a cool location. Is it possible to move more to the right and focus on the round part to shut out the light pollution?

Good try. Prefer to have longer trails though.

Beautiful image. A lovely foreground interest really helps a star trails image.

Very nice shot, Did you 'light paint' the castle?

Appologies for not responding sooner to these comments.

I did light paint the castle a little. The castle in question is Donnington Castle in Newbury (Berkshire)
http://www.newbury.net/donningtoncastle.htm

I havent managed to get back to the location and now the weather is so cold i'm not sure how I'd stop my lens misting up being out for so long. My lens misted up on a test star trail session tonight in about 20mins so this lenght of time would be a nightmare.

I did play around with longer exposures to get a brighter image - and upping the ISO but i prefered it the image to stay darker.

I will endevour to go back and take some more at a later date and see what i can do.

thanks for the comments though.
