What's the best way of storing the camera? Do I just put it in my camera bag (lens attached to camera) or do I separate them and then put in the bag? This is my first DSLR and want to do it properly. With my old Elan IIe, I just put camera (with lens attached) in the bag and it seemed ok (no damage).
Thanks.

Just keep it in your camera bag and you will be fine. Lens attached, or detached, kind of depends on the amount of gear you have, and the layout of your bag. If you just have one lens, then just leave it attached.

I just put the bag it's in in the designated "camera room" (which specific location my wife wants me to change, since I use the guest room for this and she'd prefer I only used the adjoining closet :{)# ) however it was when I last used it. Sometimes I even turn it off.

lens on for me. I don't use the on off switch on mine, I just let it shut itself off.

I have a vote for leaving the lens on. Remember every time you take a lens off, to switch to another or just cap and store the camera, it is another chance for contamination of dust and other debris.
Congrats on the new purchase!

Thanks.
I'll keep the lens on and store it that way.

Jon's funny. I also have a zillion bags and have the cameras stored with lenses on, facing down in the most used bags so I can grab them. I also leave the camera on sometimes. Isn't awful to do that.
