Not very into macro shooting myself at the moment but my sister is looking for a good lens to do the job. What is a difference between canon EF 100m f/2.8 macro usm and canon EF 100mm f/2,8 L IS USM macro???Is it better to go for a zoom lens with macro facility or proper macro one??? Will appreciate any advice. Thanks

Really depends on the magnification you need and how much use you will make of the macro lens. All prime macro lenses from the major manufacturers are optically very sharp and will go to 1:1 magnification. Most zooms with macro only go to 0.3:1 or perhaps 0.5:1 and will not be as sharp.
Any macro lens around 100mm would be good.- sigma 105, tamron 90, canon 100mm F2.8.
Not sure the 100mm IS lens would be worth the extra money in this scenario.

the new lens has IS and have more IQ at wide apertures. both are not critical for macro work, but can prove useful for other uses, like portraits.
