View Full Version : I've got $6.53 to spend, what should I get?!?

I think I may get to splurge a bit and I'd like some opinions on how I should spend my money.

So, what do you think?

Should I get a few packs of gum and a six pack of beer or do you think I'd be better off saving up and trying to get a 12 pack instead?

I might also be able to get a slightly used set of lens caps and a rocket blower (no-name brand of course).

Lastly, I might get some tin foil and a few pieces of foam board to make some reflectors, but not sure if this will help my pictures or not?

I think you should just get a 12 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon. No need to save up.

The foam board idea isn't bad though. You could have 1/5th of a light box for that kind of coin.

I was thinking 7D initially, but no, I'd go with the beer option too. A 6 pack of Kona Brewing Company Longboard Lager would be excellent.

oooh.. that sounds good. I have not tried Kona before. Probably can't get that for $6.53 though. ;-)

(i have to set this post up like every other gear post in here so............)
will you really be satisfied with a six pack of beer??
you know your just going to end buying another six pack and another six pack and another six pack..
and your going to pay extra for each six pack..

save up and when you have enough.. buy a 24 pack then you will have all the beer you need for every circumstance..

Quality over quantity, my friend. With a little shopping around you should be able to find a 4pack of Guiness or Murphy's.

I'd stick to the real thing though, proper Guinness is much nicer than the cheaper Guiness. :)

A few cans of cranberry dressing and some gravy for Thanksgiving.

Very true... quality is worth the price. It's like cheap tripods, eh?

I wish I could get proper Guinness here. I can find it on tap, which is good, but then I have to drive, AND $6.53 won't go too far in a bar. ;-)

There was a bar walking distance from my house that had Guinness on tap. They closed a while back and just re-opened under new management. Went in there looking forward to a nice glass of Guinness. Informed they no longer had Guinness, instead they now had Pabst.

So fecking wrong.

I suspect you'd end up with focussing issues, if you haven't got any already...

They have beer that cheap in Texas? Must be some of that clear beer. I would steer clear of that. And gum really has no redeeming value, so steer clear of that too.

I think you should make the reflectors and save up for some good beer. :)

Todd, I love your sense of humor. Go down to one of the casinos and put 50 cents in a nickel machine, pretend to play and get free beer when the drink girl comes along. You wouldn't be the first to use that strategy.

If you did a little bit of research, you might be able to stretch out that $6.53. Try a search on Bing.com and, depending upon where you're looking to purchase that elusive beer, they may have a 2-10% discount available.

I think you should make the reflectors and save up for some good beer. :)

Or, buy a can of beer and then use some wire snips to cut it up and turn it onto a reflector.

I voted for the lens caps, shows you where my head is!

Of course, you should buy the beer...or if you really insist on a cheap drunk, that should get you two bottles of Mad Dog and four cans of Donald Duck orange juice...with chnage left over:lol::p...
