Does anyone know of a RAW converter that allows for free rotation of images before conversion, please? I use DPP at the moment and you can only rotate 90 deg.
Thanks

Aperture 2.0 does.
It can't be done with DPP.

ACR (part of Photoshop) or Lightroom.
Almost any other than DPP basically - its one of the few things glaringly missed from DPP.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I only have Photoshop Elements 2 which won`t accept the ACR plug-in, and when I did a search online for Aperture 2 for Windows, I had some trouble connecting to any sites to check it out. My preferred processing software is Corel PhotoPaint; I am familiar with it and it can do everything I want except RAW conversion in the version I currently use, so I do not really want yet more graphics software with loads of features I would never use - just a RAW converter that will allow free rotation. As you say, neilwood32, a glaring omission from DPP.

Upgrade your Elements to a later version and you can have ACR.

Very true, just be aware that it is a slightly cut down version of the full ACR that comes with photoshop. However it is still a very good RAW processor.

I did think of upgrading Elements, but, as I said before, my preferred processing software is Corel so I rarely use Elements (I cannot get into Adobe products - I find the UI counter-intuitive). To have to buy a program for just one feature goes against the grain! Having said that, can you tell me if the "slightly cut down version" of ACR in Elements still allows free rotation of RAW images and also supports Canon 50D RAW files?
Thanks for the replies.

Edit : Incidentally, I found out that Aperture 2 is only for Mac computers.

IIRC Elements 8 uses an ACR 5.5 plugin - so is up to date with the latest cameras.
And yeah it will do rotation.
Best bet would be to give it a free trial http://www.adobe.com/products/psprelements/
Once you get used to PS it is quite easy to use - i went from PSP X to CS2 then CS4. Its not that different - a lot of plugin are shared.

I will give it a try, although I discovered today that RAW images are still bitmaps, so would be subject to some degradation when rotated at other than 90 deg increments.
Thanks for coming back on this.
