Hi ya'll...I have been on here for years learning and recently had a surprise wedding shoot for a friend. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into until it rained and we took pictures in a church where half the lights were off! The ceremony was pitch black with stars on a black backdrop and a yellow spotlight on the couple! The photos on here are amazing and I want her to have some great photos so I am asking for help...here is a photo, can someone edit and tell me what they did so I can figure out what I am doing wrong (I am having a problem with skin tones). I just got cs3 and a photoshop guide, so I am learning. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer!
I am uploading via photobucket so I know the print will appear soft, I am having a problem with the coloring and skin tones.
Thanks again!

First off, I think you did great with what you had to work with!
For the skin tones.just do a slight remove color cast...watch the crops.I did this in an 16x9 crop..ridding all the napkins etc that were in the foreground?

Taking this one to the Wedding Forum, go to Talk Weddings.they will really know what you need to watch for in the future.

okay, so I did that using levels and the color picker then adjusting the rgb levels to all be the highest...how does this look? or is there another way to do it?

I forgot to click on the white again after adjusting the rgb...it came out perfect. Thanks for the tip Flo, I bet this is something I will use often!

How does this look, all I did was go into levels pick the middle eyedropper and took a sample from the lapel of the groom it looks about 18% grey.

In addition to correcting the color cast I would add some fill light to lift some of the shadows. The couple's head/hair blends into the background but a little fill light would fix that (see illustration).
I'm guessing you shot RAW and converted using DPP....unfortunately DPP doesn't have a Fill Light feature.

alright...how's this? I added some additional light in the shadows and brightened the couple.

It seems that your last edit lost detail with the additional light/brightness - her dress and his shirt & tie (very blown highlights on him). Maybe scale back your last edit a bit??
