Hello Ron
The first picture is superb, the jetty leading ones eye into the picture and the boat adding that touch of interest, the black and white conversion is ok, but the tonal range is not quite correct in
that the blues and greens arnt dark enough, there are no near blacks or whites its tonal range goes from grey to very light grey in other words its lacking that BandW punch so to speak, of course this is only my opinion, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

Martin

I think it's a great picture. I agree with Martin, that the B&W doesn't quite capture the feeling you might be looking for. More contrast or a curves adjustment might help.
It looks like it's a good enough picture to warrent some extra care spent post processing. I can see using a quick action or whatever for proofing tons of images. But this one looks like it's worth the extra time to do it by hand and try a few variations to see what works best. Then again, I just spent two days and about a hundred pictures trying to get a flower just right. So maybe I'm to obsesive to be giving out advice. :)
Good luck.
