14 year Nikon user (still today f100) just ordered an EOS 20D
Not sure if I am going to order Canon glass or not. Have to research that some more. It's comming with its kit lens so I will play with that to start.
What am I doing??? :D

If you've any doubts about how much people value their 20D's, just try and find a used one for sale.
I've only seen one advertised and somebody quickly beat me to it.
David :)

So, assuming you have a number of Nikon lenses, why did you decide to jump ship for Canon? I can understand the choice if you are fresh to SLR camera buying but less so if you already have kit.

Cant afford Nikon D2X and want better than D100/D70. The EOS D20 fit the bill. I also have an 8700 with is just fine. But limited by the lens. I didn't want to deal with converters and such. So was time to go the DSLR route. Right now the D20 is what I want. Just have to spend a little more in the long run that if I had stayed with Nikon. And in the future I will be able to use both systems as I want. This digitial stuff is just going to keep getting better and if I get in now as a dual user I will be able to use what ever I want. It does cost money. But the good equipemnt (lenses) seem to last. So really after the initial investment bodies will be the only expense in the future, give or take a lens or two.

I used to have Nikons a LONG time ago and the only difference I noticed was that they focussed in opposite directions which was fun for a while! Now it's all AF that probably doesn't matter anymore
Although some Canon lenses will be better than NIkon equivalents and vice versa you couild argue a lifetime over which range was best. the bottom line is that Canon lenses are very good but you do get wggat you pay for. The cheap kit lens that comes with the 20D is IMHO - erm how shall I put this politely?...not the best they have to offer.
Whereas the best lenses ARE Brilliant - so do what you have probably seen others do here - lots of research on the best Canon lenses for your style and pocket and buy Canon, you'll not regret it - well - I haven't! :D

I have been looking at 5 lenses. 100 f2.8 mac
And trying to decide between 2 of the 4. 16-35 f2.8 / 17 - 40 f4.0, and 70-200 f2.8 and f4's. Non IS lenses. I can swing the macro and both 4.0's now. Or the mac and 1 of the 2.8's. But I am going to at least wait till I have the camera in hand and play with it and the elcheapo lens. My nikons are all 2.8's in basically the same lengths. Don't think I want to risk the cameras or lenses by using adapters. I am also starting to look into Sigma / Tamron lenses.

I looked at the 100 macro and although its a crsacking performer it just wasn't macro enough fopr me to warrent it. If I really want to do macro I will go for the 180, but don't feel I can justify it at the mo, I just don't shoot that kinda stuff much

Don't sell your F100 yet.
Sold mine to get a 350D, whilst I like the 350, I really miss transparencies.

No intentions of selling my Nikon stock. I too love slide film. Buying a scanner next with my fun money (may be a little while with the d20 purchase :( ). I also have a Bronica SQa that I play around with as well. The D20 is just my current choice for DSLR for the next couple years.
