Hello,

I picked up a Velbon Mag slider (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/193311-REG/Velbon_SMAGSLIDER_Super_Mag_Slider.html#reviews) and I am pondering over ways to use it with my manfrotto tripod legs. I use a Markins M10 with a plate for my 5D MK II to secure the camera to the tripod legs. The camera plate is always attached to the camera and I don't want to keep removing it to use the camera with the mag slider.

B&H suggested me to purchase the "394 Low Profile Quick Release Adapter with 410PL Plate" (http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto/pid/3268).

Can I attach the 410PL plate to the bottom of the Velbon mag slider to mount it on my Markins M10? Can the 394 Low Profile Quick release adapter take in my Markins 5D Mark II camera plate?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Can we assume you use an Arca-Swiss clamp on the M10 to match with the camera plate?

If that is the case, then it looks as though you are being led astray, because what has been suggested does not look like A-S to me.

I reckon you need something like the Markins QR-60, QR-45, or something from RRS, Kirk or Wimberley. And of course something to attach your macro slider to your existing ballhead.

Edited: I thought at first the PL was a Markins plate reference, but it seems its not, so no, I don't think the 410PL would work.

Thanks Lowner. Sorry, I was away and hence couldn't reply.

Yes, the Markins M10 has a Arca-Swiss compatible clamp while the Manfrotto doesn't :(
