I'm thinking of buying a angle finder but I'm a bit worried about using it with my flash unit mounted on the camera, on the pictures I've seen it looks like it might be a bit too close so is there room to look down the eye piece without your forehead hitting the flash unit?

thanks

Chris, are you talking about your ring flash or a more standard Speedlite type such as the 550EX.
If the latter I can tell you it's possible but a bit inconvenient. The angle finder can be rotated to 45 degrees which makes it a bit easier.

thanks Cameron, yeah I meant my MT-24 but I don't think it will be too different from your 550. So does the angle finder rotate backwards towards you (like this / instead of this |) and is it possible to use it in portrait mode? thanks again

No, it doesn't rotate backwards. It can rotate 360 degrees in 45 degree stops on the same vertical plane.
Yes portrait mode is possible, in fact that would remove any obstruction from the flash.

Hope this helps.

One other thing that might help, I got the eyepiece extender for use with the angle finder C and it makes a difference in keeping head a touch farther away from bumping flash.
