Personal Flickr URL?

I really wasn't sure where to ask this so I hope this is the correct section.

I notice a lot of people link their Flickr in their signatures. I was wondering how you find this link? I was looking at others and it appears to be http://www.flickr.com/photos/yourlinkhere/

Whenever I put my Flickr name there which is DCsportFan, it gives me a cannot find page. Do you have to be a PRO member to have this feature or am I just doing something wrong? This link ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/40026853@N08/ ) will take you right to my page, but http://www.flickr.com/photos/DCsportFan/ will not.

Anybody know what the problem is? Is it because I'm not a PRO member?

Friendly Flickr URLs need to be set up manually by the user. Go to flickr.com/account (http://www.flickr.com/account) and look for the section titled "Your Flickr web address". You can use your username, or you can use something different.

Once you set your Flickr web address, it cannot be changed.

The url http://flickr.com/DCsportFan will also work, that's way shorter :)

the difference between the photos in the url - i think at least - with photos, takes the browser to your photo page. without it, to your profile page. Either could be used when just wanting to share where your flickr is.

If you follow the instructions above, then you should have

flickr.com/photos/myname which brings users to your photo page
AND
flickr.com/myname which brings users to your profile

my flickr is k8et. try it. I set the name once (i don't know if it's a pro feature or not) and BOTH those links work for my account - they just go to different pages.

Oops I was wrong. haha.

flickr.com/people/k8et is my profile.

I entered flickr.com/k8et and it FORWARDS it to flickr.com/photos/k8et

bottom line still is that you change it once, and the shorter should work. If you just changed it now, you may need to wait a few hours for the forwarding feature to work? good luck
