Sorry, I know this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find the post... when I bought my Digital Rebel it came with the BP511 battery (1100 mA) and CB-5L charger. Then when I got a 20D, it came with the BP511A battery (1390 mA) and CG-580 charger. Both chargers output 1.2 amps at 8.4 volts. So, my question is... are the batteries interchangeable with both cameras, and are they interchangeable with both chargers? I ask because when I travel to Egypt in a couple of weeks, I'd like to take just one charger if possible.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, the batteries are interchangeable, and the chargers are also.

The batteries with the greater capacity simply hold more energy.

It's sort of like one auto fuel tank with a capacity of ten gallons, and the other tank with a capacity of twelve gallons. The same fuel goes into them. One just lasts longer.
