I want to add mist to this image fading from background to foreground but with my skills, it would involve numerous hours of Photoshop.

My question...is the image worth the investment of time or do I relegate it to the trash bin file?

Chauncey, had that muddied newly plowed road not been there, I would have said yes...but I wouldn't now.:(

C'mon Flo, making that road go away is the easiest part of the whole thing.

Not much time... I spent about 5 minutes.
High pass sharpen and little more contrast.
Add blank layer. Fill with grey, 50% opacity, use monochromatic noise filter. Add opaque mask and apply gradient to mask. Play around with the gradient till you like it. You could use more or less noise and you can use the opacity of the layer to control the amount of mist. You could also dodge and burn on the mask to feature the mist.
Now you just have to get rid of the road.

That's pretty close to what I had in mind Poloman but it still begs the question...is it ever going to be a silk purse or will it remain a sow's ear?
